CHILDREN'S LITURGY OF THE WORD
First and foremost- THANK YOU! Thank you to the parents for sharing your children in this ministry of the church. We look forward for your children to continue attending the Children’s Liturgy of the Word.
“Jesus said: ‘Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the Kingdom of God belongs.’ Then he put his arms around them, laid his hands on them, and gave them his blessings.” (Mark 10:14,16)
Jesus made a special point of welcoming children. In his great love for them, he put his arms around them and gave them his blessing. Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) is adapted so that children may more easily understand the Word of God and, through the Word, be touched and blessed by Jesus.
The CLOW is intended to nourish and guide the spiritual growth of the children and to immerse them in the Word in ways that are understandable to them. We celebrate the Liturgy through a “kid’s eye” point of view to:
It is important to remember that Children’s Liturgy of the Word is more properly worship than catechesis. The purpose of celebrating the Liturgy of the Word with children is to lead them to full, conscious and active participation in the parish.
CLOW is open to children in primary grades who are attending Mass with their parents. No registration is required (not to be confused with Religious Education classes).
PARENTS play a critical role in preparing the children to attend CLOW and are encouraged to ask them about each week’s readings and lessons. We continue to invite you to please consider sending your child to Children’s Liturgy to experience the celebration of God’s Word through a child’s eyes.

- Help children have an age appropriate experience of the Liturgy of the Word.
- Help children apply the Word of God to their own experiences and actions.
- Help children become closer to God.
- Help children to learn how to participate, both internally and externally, in the celebration of the Mass.
